Legend Turbo 3. A modern Renault 5 Turbo on the way

Like other cars from the 1980s that have become iconic, the Renault 5 is experiencing a resurgence in popularity, aided by the presentation of an electric R5 concept foreshadowing a new electric city car from the manufacturer. The Turbo and Turbo 2 versions of the 5 are no exception, judging from their second-hand price, which is skyrocketing. The muscular city dweller is about to be resuscitated by a new brand, called Légende Automobiles, in the form of a neo-retro vehicle called Turbo 3.

A more than suggestive look

Only two images and very little information have been published so far regarding the Turbo 3. It is therefore not yet clear whether it is a restomod (modernized old vehicle) or a model designed to from a white sheet. What we do know is that the unique look of the R5 Turbo is there. The first photos leave us guess a car “square” and collected with very wide wings. At the front and at the rear, LEDs display a yellow light signature for a guaranteed “retro” effect. The front bumper vents, roof spoiler and rear pillar air guides promise sportiness.

An R5 with Californian sauce

The team behind the Turbo 3 includes the French designer Alan Derosier based in Austria, the Bloodmotorsport workshop located between Lyon and Mâcon, as well as the French expatriates in California (United States) of SoCal Frenchiez specializing in automotive customization. Nothing has been announced yet regarding the technical sheet of the car. According to the few bits of information that the project managers have let slip here and there, Renault’s plans for the electric R5 would not threaten this independent initiative, which the diamond mark would have known for some time already. According to Légende Automobiles, new information will be communicated shortly.
