December 01, 2015. According to a study carried out in a sleep clinic in Arizona, the professionals sleep should ask their patients if they sleep with their pet. A question raised, rarely asked and little studied! And yet, the animal’s hair, its noises, its movements can greatly disrupt sleep.
This would not be the case for all patients, but for most, the presence of their pet could interfere with their sleep and affect its quality. This is what this American study published at the end of October 2015 reveals.
Out of 150 patients interviewed, 64 people reported owning one or more pets. And more than half of them revealed that they opened their bedroom doors at night.
If 31 people declared to feel their presence as beneficial, 15 admit all the same that they are a disruptive element.
In fact, if this study deserves to be deepened in order to draw more precise conclusions, the health professionals who led it believe that this question should be systematically asked of people suffering from sleep disturbances. Little doctors discuss with their patient the probability that their disorders are linked to the presence of their animal in their room, or even in their bed.
And you what do you think ? Do you sleep with your pet?
