Renault drew the first to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the R5, launched in January 1972. Peugeot will commemorate the arrival of the 104 on the market this summer. The argus redoes the match by opposing the future R5 Electric expected for 2024 a Peugeot e-104 which will remain virtual.
The year 2022 is that of the 50th anniversary of the Renault 5! The diamond brand has planned many festivities to celebrate with great fanfare the birth, half a century ago, of its emblematic city car.
Behind the scenes: the Renault 5 Prototype concept car, unveiled in January 2021 during the Renaulution. A vehicle that has already had the opportunity to cause a sensation, providing a link between the past and the future. This clearly announces the arrival of a Renault 5 E-Tech 100 % electric as standard, which will join the range in early 2024.

50 years of the Peugeot 104
But let’s not forget, in the opposing camp, its rival at the time: the Peugeot 104. The car, launched in 1972, is therefore also celebrating its golden jubilee this year. It was at the time the shortest four-door sedan in the world with a format of 3.58 m. An exhibition will be dedicated to him at the Peugeot Adventure Museum from June to December 2022. There should also be a rally organized by the Peugeot 104 Club in September.
“The Peugeot Adventure Museum in Sochaux will organize an exhibition from June to December 2022 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 104.“
But, on the side of the lion brand, no return of a Peugeot 104 is looming in the range, especially since the 108 left the production line in December 2021. Nostalgia is not part of the house policy. Everyone will have their own opinion on the matter. But we couldn’t help but imagine thealter ego at Peugeot of the future Renault 5 E-Tech Electric, just to redo the match fifty years later in “surprise” mode of course. Here is our personal interpretation of an e-104 which should certainly remain virtual, unless… it seduces Linda Jackson, the boss of Peugeot. The call is launched (who said the petition?).

Peugeot e-104, in the vein of the e-Legend
A bit like the Peugeot e-Legend concept car which happily revisited the lines of the 504 coupé in 2018, this e-104 takes up the sober and very seventies of the eponymous sedan. So no luminous fangs on the program; they are soberly integrated into the square headlights with a light signature worthy of that of the Peugeot 9X8, the hybrid hypercar designed to take part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. As its name suggests, the Peugeot e-104 would be a 100% electric vehicle positioned at the top of the range, targeting the electric Fiat 500 and Mini Cooper SE, not to mention the Honda e. A more chic and more exclusive electric – because not offered in thermal – than the Peugeot e-208 which officiates in real life. To bring a touch of personalization, this Peugeot e-104 would have roof arches whose color can be dissociated from that of the bodywork like the Audi A1 Sportback which could be a rival… if it were electric.
