It’s a slimming tip well known to nutritionists: to lose weight, it’s in-dis-pen-sand to take the time to eat… and especially to chew each bite well.
Researchers at Waseda University (in Japan) have just discovered the reason why this trick is effective in sculpting a pretty silhouette.
Chew for a long time and take the time to savor the food
Japanese scientists carried out an experiment with a group of volunteers, who had to either swallow a predefined amount of food without chewing it, or chew it for a long time before swallowing it.
Verdict? The researchers (who published their work in the specialist journal Scientific Reports) have found that chewing your food well promotes good intestinal mobility (with a more efficient digestive process), boosts metabolism (that is to say: the number of calories burned “at rest”, outside from any physical activity) and improved blood circulation in the abdominal area (allowing better absorption of nutrients). So many elements that actively participate in weight loss…
Good to know : according to Japanese scientists, the longer you chew each bite, the greater the benefits on digestion and metabolism. They also encourage us to savor the foods we eat, for the same purpose. In short, we have “mindful” meals that are as good for your health as for your figure!
