Renault is taking part in Le Mans Classic 2022 and is entering three 4CVs, replicas of the competition versions that raced at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1950 and 1951. One of the cars is entrusted to L’argus journalist Géraldine Gaudy, in tandem with driver Alain Serpaggi, who has participated in the Le Mans race 5 times.
Every two years, collector and competition car enthusiasts write this event down in their calendars: Le Mans Classic! After four years of absence due to the global pandemic, the event is back on the Grand Circuit de la Sarthe. From June 30 to July 3, 800 competition vehicles that took part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans between 1923 and 1981 will follow one another on the track. The show will also be in the car parks, with the presence of 8,500 vehicles brought together by the clubs and manufacturers.
This year, the writing of The argus is not only mobilized to cover the gathering, which should welcome nearly 200,000 visitors. It also participates in events with the complicity of Renault Classic.
The 1950 Renault 4CV from The argus
Three Renault 4CVs, replicas of the competition versions entered in the 24 Hours of Le Mans race, will be at the start des races du plateau 2. In the 1950 version, you will find the deputy editor-in-chief of L’argus: Géraldine Gaudy. She will share the seat of the “motte de beurre” (affectionate nickname given to the 4CV) with Alain Serpaggi. The driver, winner of the performance index at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1969, has participated in the Le Mans classic five times and just as many on his historic version! The other Renault 4CVs, in the colors of the 1951 models, will be driven by the duos:
- Julien Saunier (title winner of the Alpine Trophy) and Patrick Henry (WRC driver);
- Christian Chambord and Jean-Pierre Prévot.

The tray program

The start of the three other grids (4, 5 and 6), made up of more recent and more efficient cars, will be launched. Which models to see running and when? Here is the program below.
