The basic recipe for yogurt cake
Ingredients
- 1 pot of plain yogurt
- 1/2 jar of sunflower oil
- 2 jars of sugar
- 3 jars of flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 eggs
- 1 sachet of vanilla sugar
Recipe
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (th. 6).
- Pour the yogurt into a bowl. Add the oil, sugar and vanilla sugar, whisk, then incorporate the eggs and whisk again.
- Add the flour mixed with the baking powder. Oil a cake tin, pour the batter into it, then bake for 30 minutes.
- The tip of a knife pierced through should come out dry.
Tips for success
- We choose rather neutral oil (sunflower, grapeseed). But you can also take olive, walnut or hazelnut oil, to bring a little discreet flavor.
- The secret of softness? Whole milk yogurt! But you can also use sheep’s or goat’s milk yoghurt.
How to revisit the yogurt cake?
With spices : use semi-complete or complete flour, and flavor the cake with 1 tbsp. ground cinnamon, 1 tbsp. teaspoon powdered ginger and 1/2 tsp. coffee cardamom powder.
With coconut: add the equivalent of a pot of grated coconut yoghurt and 1 egg.
With hazelnut : replace 1 pot of flour with 1 pot of hazelnut powder. Mega-gourmet version, cut the cake horizontally once cooled and spread it with hazelnut paste…
With pineapple : D ispose a few well-drained slices of pineapple in syrup at the bottom of the buttered mold before pouring the batter. Once out of the oven, drizzle the cake with the equivalent of 2 jars of pineapple syrup.
Wholemeal flour : with T110 flour, this cake will have a more typical flavor.
