In France, the Citroën C-Elysée leads an anonymous career, but this is not the case in southern European countries, Turkey and the Maghreb. Therefore, Citroën will launch a four-door version of the C4 (C43) in 2022, produced at the Madrid plant.
Despite a price of less than € 15,000, the Citroën C-Elysée has never raced the streets in France. This notchback sedan, unveiled at the end of 2016, was not intended to be sold here, but imports from Spain and the grumbling of dealers had convinced the manufacturer to distribute it in France. Still sold in Tunisia or Turkey, the French will be replaced according to our information in 2022.
Made in the Madrid factory
Known internally under the code C43, this notchback sedan is part of the new C4 family from which it takes over the platform. Citroën also had a project for a time of a compact SUV (code C44), abandoned because the future C3 Aircross will see its template lengthen to around 4.30 m in 2024. If the old C-Elysée was produced in the he Spanish factory in Vigo, the C4 L will always be in the Iberian Peninsula but in Madrid, which already assembles the C4. It will go into production from October 2022. However, the economic profitability of this four-door C4 mainly depends on the Chinese market where it will also be available in an electric version.
