It’s that time again: the fall update of Windows 10 is coming. What can you expect? An overview.
The fall update is one of the two annual major Windows updates. This is being rolled out in phases. In the coming weeks, everyone with Windows 10 will eventually receive it. The ‘Windows 10 October 2020 Update’ includes Microsoft’s new Chromium-based Edge browser, which has been available since early this year. Users who have not yet installed this browser will receive it permanently with the autumn update.
The Start menu also has to deal with adjustments. The tiles no longer have a background color, the icons of apps should now be more visible. Microsoft also changes the way the key combination alt + tab works. In the new Windows 10 version, alt + tab shows all open tabs in Microsoft Edge as a separate item. But you can also switch to the classic view later, without the view of each tab.
Just like in 2019, the October update does not change very much in the end. The May 2020 Update that appeared at the end of May brought more changes at the time.
