Since 2011, the National Agency for the Evaluation and Quality of Social Establishments and Services (Anesm) and the High Authority for Health (HAS) have been working together to promote the adoption of best practices in France for the diagnosis and treatment autism.
As part of the 2013-2017 Autism Plan, the two institutions are currently developing recommendations on the life course of adults with autism spectrum disorders.
Improving the quality of life of autistic adults
“The objective of these recommendations is to improve the quality of both health and medico-social interventions with autistic adults to promote greater social inclusion and ultimately a better quality of life” emphasizes the HAS in a press release. To draw up these recommendations, Anesm and HAS brought together various working groups which produced a preliminary version of the recommendations.
Various topics are covered, including:
the transition from adolescence to adulthood
the participation of the autistic adult in decisions that concern him and in social life
- interventions to be carried out on the environment
support for the person and evaluation of the expected effects
the health journey (access to somatic and psychiatric care and transitions in case of hospitalization)
prevention and management of problem behaviors
aging.
How to give your opinion?
From June 19 to July 31, the preliminary version of the recommendations can be consulted on the websites of Anesm and of the HAS. All the actors involved in the support and monitoring of autistic adults are invited to give their opinion: associations supporting autistic adults, professional associations, health establishments, medico-social establishments and services, structures of liberal professionals, learned societies, public institutions, health agencies, trade unions, industrialists…
It should be noted that individuals cannot respond individually and are therefore invited to contact their associative or professional organizations.
These opinions will then be communicated anonymously to the working groups in charge of drawing up the recommendations. They will be used to enrich and finalize these recommendations.
