Renault is opening pre-orders for its new Austral SUV, which will go on sale in November. Its engine offer consists solely of electrified blocks with powers ranging from 130 to 200 hp. Prices will be announced in the fall. They would start at €32,000.
The pre-order book for the new Renault Austral is open. The first countries concerned are France, Spain – where the SUV is produced – Italy, Germany and the Netherlands. The others will have to wait until after the summer. The Austral can already be configured on the manufacturer’s website, before joining the dealerships in November.
Six finishes on the program
The range of the new diamond SUV is structured around four levels: Balance, Evolution, Techno and Iconic. A structure that is now found on all models of the French manufacturer. To note that the more refined label “Alpine Spirit will be offered on the two most exclusive versions, thus bringing the total number of finishes to six. The Renault Austral relies on an offer of fully electrified petrol engines. In the catalog are thus the micro-hybrid blocks 1.3 TCe (12V) of 140 and 160 hp, as well as a brand new three-cylinder 1.2 turbo (48V) of 130 hp. Two other hybrid engines of 160 and 200 hp complete the range. The 4Control four-wheel steering system is reserved for the top-of-the-range Iconic finish with the 200 hp 1.2 E-Tech hybrid.

What attack price?
On the price side, Renault has still not communicated the launch price. According to our estimates, it would be set at around €32,000. This places the Austral in line with its major competitor: the Peugeot 3008. The first deliveries will take place in December. The Renault Austral catalog will welcome a 4.70 m long seven-seater variant in 2023, while a coupé version designed by Gilles Vidal, defector from Peugeot, will arrive in 2024.
