We imagined a little sister of the Peugeot 508 RXH, an eponymous 308 with the look of an adventurer and equipped with optimized plug-in hybrid technology or even a Dangel 4×4 transmission. A sweet dream that will come true, yes, but under the Opel label and in an electric version.
The end of the day for a station wagon is to sport a chic adventurer livery, like the Audi allroad quattro and the Mercedes All-Terrain.. Exclusive models that enhance their owners and whose height is beneficial for the manufacturer’s profit margin.

In 2011, Peugeot tried the adventure with the 508 RXH which also released a hybrid diesel engine as well as a all-wheel drive by means of its electromotor. In 2014, mules based on the second generation 308 SW suggested the birth of a little sister. This 308 RXH never saw the light of day. Too bad, but it is only a postponement.

With the arrival of the third version of the lion’s compact station wagon and plug-in hybrid technology in the 308 range, we imagined what a vintage 2022 Peugeot 308 RXH could be. A perfect rival for the Volkswagen Golf SW Alltrack which, for the moment, does not yet have plug-in hybridization.
308 RXH: a virtual achievement …

Our achievement will remain virtual, in fact, this project does not appear in the product plan of the Lion brand. Whatever, Photoshop has helped us a lot so that the ground clearance is significantly increased. In order of course to avoid all the ruts. And even if it means dreaming, let’s push the plug a little further – ie higher in the drawing – by illustrating what a Dangel variant could be. A real adventurer equipped with the all-wheel drive dear to the Alsatian company and fitted with studded tires that are not afraid of anything. This 308 RXH “offroad” could have been the heir to the Peugeot 306 Dangel conceived more than twenty years ago and which has never been produced. The 4×4 specialist had even imagined a variation on the basis of the current 508 SW unfortunately remained at the draft stage.

… a real breaker breaker at Opel!
If it is accepted that Peugeot will not offer a 308 RXH, on the other hand, his cousin Opel will appropriate the recipe that he will cook with Astra sauce. Known internally under the code OV52, the Astra Sports Tourer station wagon, which will arrive in dealerships in spring 2022, will subsequently be available in a 100% electric backpacker version. Will it be an Opel Astra Country Tourer, like the eponymous variants of the Opel Insignia that appeared in 2013 and 2017 respectively?
P54 for Peugeot, OV54 for Opel

Opel is currently working on a third silhouette in the Astra family. According to our information, this OV54 project is based on the Astra station wagon, the aesthetics of which will be reworked, in particular at the front and at the rear. This Astra Cross will be higher on legs which leaves more room in height to accommodate a battery under the floor. It will thus benefit from the kinematics of its cousin the DS4, manufactured in the Rüsselsheim plant in Germany. Unlike the Opel Astra e sedan and Peugeot e-308 (2023), the DS4 E-Tense (2024) and the Astra Cross will accommodate the new Nidec / PSA electric motor and ACC battery. On the Peugeot side, L’argus, you have revealed the future 4008 (project P54) which will go into production in October 2022 at the Mulhouse plant. On the other hand, this four-door crossover coupe will not be available in electric, the engine and the battery of the e-308 being insufficient for this vehicle of 4.70 m.
