Fruit juices, a source of nutrients and vitamins
Fruit juices are naturally supplied with essential nutrients from fruit. They contain vitamins (vitamin C, vitamin B9), minerals (potassium), polyphenols and carotenoids, thus ensuring a good nutritional density. So drinking a glass of orange juice (200 ml) can cover almost all of the daily need for vitamin C.
For all these reasons, the recommendations of the National Health Nutrition Program (PNNS), states that a glass of fruit juice can contribute to one of the five daily servings of fruit.
Fruit juices, a source of hydration
Fruit juices contain on average 90% water, and all minerals (especially potassium). They can increase hydration levels from young children to the elderly to teenagers who often have an unbalanced diet.
It is of course recommended to prepare your juices with fresh seasonal fruits, and not to add sugar rather than buying industrial fruit juices, which are richer in sugars and calories and less rich in fibers and nutrients.
