Good Monday resolutions are a bit like New Year’s resolutions: everyone makes it. Regime, sport, health, lifestyle… the desire to change rarely happens in the middle of the weekend, in front of the veal blanquette on Sunday lunch. An American study, published by the journal American journal of preventiveconfirms this trend.
Researchers from the University of San Diego, the Santa Fe Institute and Johns Hopkins University and members of the NGO Monday Campaignswhich campaigns for health every Monday, analyzed the number of searches carried out on the Internet with the keyword “health” between 2005 and 2012.
a new day
Requests on this subject would therefore be 30% more frequent at the beginning of the week. More precisely, the volume of searches is 3% higher on Monday and Tuesday compared to Wednesday, 15% compared to Thursday, 49% compared to Friday, 80% compared to Saturday and finally, 29 % compared to Sunday, reports Le Figaro. These figures could help health authorities better target the launch days of their campaigns to make them more effective.
“People perceive Monday as a new day, a little like a mini new Year. They tend to let go during the weekend, Monday allowing to set the record straight and find a healthier behavior”, comments Joanna Cohen, professor at Johns Hopkins University, quoted by Le Figaro.
