Microsoft is serious when it comes to Android support for Windows 11. The company is currently testing version 12.1 for the operating system.
By supporting new versions of the mobile system in the so-called Windows Subsystem for Android, Android apps will continue to run smoothly on Windows 11. Currently, this version is only available for Windows Insiders†
Now the majority of Windows 11 computers work with Android 11. That is a widely used version of the system, with which there is little wrong. But Android 12.1 is of course much more recent (while Google is already working on Android 13, which will be released later this year).
Update for Android on Windows
The update brings a number of changes. For example, Android notifications now appear as Windows notifications in the Action Center. The Taskbar also shows whether an app is using your microphone or location. In addition, apps do not restart when you wake your computer from sleep mode.
Furthermore, you can access all kinds of useful Android settings within the Windows Settings app. From now on, apps will also handle your camera and network options much better.
Since the update is still being tested within the Dev channel, you may encounter many bugs as a tester. The system may crash and some Android apps sometimes stop working. Nevertheless, it is good to know that Microsoft continues to invest in this part.
