No more cold feet
Do you also suffer from cold feet? Slippies offer a solution. You can heat these slippers in the microwave and stay warm for about 2 hours. Editorial colleague Marianne checks whether the slipper fits her.
It’s not really a global problem, but it can be quite difficult: cold feet. Some people are so bothered by it that they have difficulty walking or falling asleep until their ice cubes have thawed again.
Electric underblanket
Marianne belongs to the latter category. Every evening she crawls on her electric underblanket, but before her feet are warm, she is often already an hour away.
And with the blanket, she can only warm one side of her feet at a time. Or it should be that she can warm her feet on her boyfriend’s legs.
Microwave
Not surprising that her boyfriend is also happy that Marianne can try out the Slippies. Slippies look like normal slippers. But these slippers are filled with grains of grain, which can give off heat for a long time. You put them in the microwave for a few minutes and they stay warm for 45 minutes to 2.5 hours.
Marianne is enthusiastic. She tries them out on the couch in front of the TV, but also in bed. “The advantage is that the heat is around your foot, so also on your instep. When you put your feet on something warm, the top stays cold, but with the Slippies your whole foot really gets warm.”
lavender scent
But if you have the Slippies on, you must be forced to rest. “You can get up to get some tea or something, but you can’t really walk on it for long. The filling with the seeds is too uneven under your feet for that,” she says.
The Slippies also give off a lavender scent. Is that tasty? Marianne thinks so. “Otherwise, they’d probably smell really musty if you’re sitting there with your sweaty sweat in there,” she says with a wink. Her boyfriend thinks the smell is slightly less. “I can smell those slippers again,” he grumbles.
Durable
According to the manufacturer, you can reuse the Slippies thousands of times. We haven’t been able to try that out, but so far the Slippies are still doing fine. The only downside could be that they are not washable. So the question is whether you want to heat them thousands of times in the microwave. Fortunately, people who do not find that very fresh can also warm them up on the heating.
