Relax in the massage chair
We welcome the Inventos massage chair to the editors with much internal cheer. Spend the whole day relaxing in a luxurious armchair and getting a massage too. We can’t wait to try it out. Benno op ten Berg van Inventos brings him along and explains.
Already during the explanation I am planted in the chair. The shoes must be taken off, because your feet will also be massaged. The armchair is so big and deep that I seem to disappear into it.
Weightless
At the touch of a button on the control panel, Op ten Berg tilts the seat backwards. Zero Gravity is the name of this horizontal posture. This should make me feel weightless.
After suppressing images of the dentist, I can imagine something with that. Bring on that massage.
smart mouse
Op ten Berg chooses a massage program for me. “There are four standard programs, this one is called Relax. For these four programs you have to keep your hand on this mouse,” says Op ten Berg, placing a kind of computer mouse on the armrest.
This mouse monitors exactly how I react to massages of different body parts. If there is a knot in my lower back, I react tensely when it is massaged.
The mouse measures the tension and so the chair knows that extra massage is required. On the screen of the control panel, large parts of the back of the drawn man turn red. “Oh,” I say. “There is still work to be done here…”
Pretty intensive
Many different massage techniques are discussed in the massage program. One time I feel rollers, then another knock or inflatable pillows in my back. Sometimes it looks like real hands working me.
The chair encloses my lower legs with inflatable cushions and my feet are also well held. Op ten Berg keeps talking about the chair, but I have trouble listening. Questions slowly roll out of my mouth. It’s hard not to give in to the massage because it’s so intense. Sometimes a bit too intense. I try to look normal as the armchair with rollers hurts the bottom of my foot. “Can it be softer?” I ask with my left eye clenched shut.
Away from the world
Fortunately, you can. “If you open this cover, you will find a lot of buttons to adjust the chair completely to your own liking. And for people who find the chair really too heavy-handed, we sell extra thick seat cushions. But that is very rare,” claims On ten Berg.
When I get up from the chair after a fifteen-minute massage, I feel light. As if my body suddenly weighs nothing. I have trouble getting back to work right away. My thoughts seem to be swirling in all directions. A cup coffee gets me back on track.
Tastes differ
During the time that the massage chair has been in the editorial office, many different people have sat in it. And the reactions vary quite a bit. One thinks the massages really hurt and complains stone and bone.
The other increases the intensity a bit and then walks out whistling again. In general, it is mainly the ladies who have difficulty with the heavy-handed kneading. Our beautiful expectations are dashed to the ground. Such a massage is not so wonderfully relaxing.
In the meantime, the chair has been picked up and we still miss it. With our sedentary computer job, we regularly struggle with stiff limbs that scream for a massage. But if you want to buy the chair, you have to dig deep into your pockets. The suggested retail price of the MasterhandZG is 6995 euros (incl. VAT).
