There are those chores that you don’t do every day, but if you have to do them once, it’s handy to have a program for it. A good example of this is FileFriend. This little piece of freeware does a few things that usually require separate programs. You can use it to split and rejoin files, paste them in a row, extract a number of bytes from the beginning or end, encrypt or encrypt the traditional way by hiding them in an image and compare files. Both methods of encryption also work for directories.
