It is always nice to know how well the PC is (still) performing and whether actions to improve it actually have an effect. For that we need to measure the state before and after such an action. As far as hard drive read and write performance is concerned, CrystalDiskMark from the maker of the excellent CrystalDiskInfo can do just that. This program allows you to run multiple tests in succession with test files of different sizes and under multiple conditions such as peak load and realistic load. CrystalDiskMark is very easy to use.
