Banks and credit card companies are required to verify the identity of their customers. They often use special proprietary software for this. If that is not the case, however, or if it concerns other – perhaps less reliable – parties that require a copy of your proof of identity, you can use CopyID. This app from the national government enables you to scan your passport, ID card and driver’s license and to make privacy-sensitive parts illegible. You can then save or print the scan to share it with the party requesting it.
