Fiat would have in its boxes a twin of the Citroën Ami. The electric quadricycle could take the name of Topolino and be available in a new discoverable variant. It is not to be excluded that this model, if confirmed, is reserved for the Italian market. It could land in 2023.
Fiat would prepare its own version of the Citroën Ami, in a similar approach to that of Opel. The Blitz indeed offers the Rocks-e in Germany, a country where the Friend is not sold. Some Italian distributors would have been entitled to a preview of this new twin of the light quadricycle with chevrons according to Automotive News Europe. The vehicle would differ from the French model by a few details.
The return of the Fiat Topolino?
The Fiat without a license could be reserved for Italy, where the Ami is already marketed, which would allow the Stellantis group to circumvent certain production limits imposed on each brand by the regulations on quadricycles. She would resurrect the name Topolino, a popular name on the other side of the Alps, which translates as “little mouse” and designates the character of Mickey Mouse there. A name that was mainly attributed to the very first Fiat 500, marketed between the 1930s and the 1950s. According to a source from the Fiat distribution network in Italy, the car would have a slightly more refined finish than that of the Citroën Ami. Its technical characteristics should remain unchanged, with a power of 8 hp and a speed limited to 45 km / h to comply with regulations. The car would probably be produced in Kenitra (Morocco), like the Ami and the Rocks-e, and could be launched in 2023.
A convertible Ami badged Fiat?
The major difference between this supposed Fiat Topolino and the Citroën Ami would be the existence of a convertible version at Fiat. Neither Citroën nor Opel have such a variant. On the other hand, the Ami and Rocks-e are available in utilities, and the Italian could ignore this type of offer. As in the rest of the Fiat range, the open-air Topolino could adopt the Dolcevita suffix. With a rather urban vocation, if confirmed, this derivative of the little French boat would therefore not be designed to go fishing in Florida.
