THE yogurts are source of vitamin D and calcium. The milk they contain provides complete proteins made up of all the essential amino acids.
Yogurt fits perfectly into a balanced diet.
Three dairy products a day are recommended during childhood and adolescence: they provide calcium and are essential for the growth and good mineralization of bones, reports the National Health Nutrition Program (PNS). As an adult, be content with two dairy products a day. Dairy products include yogurts but also cheese and milk.
It is therefore completely possible to eat yogurt daily. Be careful, however, to choose. All are not equal.
Plain yogurt is the healthiest
Yogurt nature is the yogurt the most recommended by nutritionists. The lactic acid bacteria they contain would be beneficial for intestines because favor the digestion of lactose. A plain yogurt at the end of a meal can thus facilitate digestion, even in people who have a poor tolerance to lactose. This is the opinion of American researchers, authors of a scientific study published in 2014 within L’American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
They also highlighted the slimming benefits of this dessert : their proteins promote the feeling of satiety more easily and encourage less snacking.
It is also low in calories or fat (60-80 calories max).
Plain yogurt is beneficial provided do not add sugar. Some people put as much as in flavored yogurts. The yogurt, which was natural and good at the start, then loses all its virtues.
Which yogurts to avoid?
While plain yogurts are preferred, some may be harmful to people prone to bad cholesterol. This is the case for those made with whole milk. The reason ? THE whole milk yogurts contain too much cream, which makes them high in fat.
As to fruit flavored yogurts, if they benefit from a healthy image, it is not so. There are many additives and sugar (the equivalent of a tablespoon of sugar).
Also beware of 0% fat yogurt. In reality, it is especially with added sugar that you have to be careful. When you read 0%, it means 0% fat. The sugar will always be present. It is the milk fat that is removed. You then lose 3 grams of fat per 100 grams of yoghurt at most, which is minimal. In addition, if you choose a 0% fat yogurt, you are missing out on the benefits of vitamin D. However, the whole point of yogurt is the calcium it contains thanks to the vitamin D !
Finally, they are not part of yogurts, even if many of you consider them as such: they are dairy desserts. In terms of calories, you can triple compared to plain yogurts. We cite for example dessert creams (like the famous Danette). Filled with sugar, it is a “pleasure” dessert that should not be eaten every day.
