According to a recent study conducted by American researchers from Brigham and Women’s Hospital and published in the scientific journal The Lancet, moderate carbohydrate intake may be better for your health and eating starchy foods in the evening would not only improve the quality of sleep, but also reduce stress and insomnia.
According to a nutritionist interviewed by the Italian news agency Ansa on the occasion of World Sleep Day, March 15, 2019: ” The consumption of pasta promotes the synthesis of insulin, which facilitates the absorption of tryptophan linked to serotonin (which regulates mood) and melatonin (the sleep hormone) “. 80 to 100 grams of pasta, plain and al dente
Be careful though! For the effects of pasta in the evening to be beneficial on health, it is necessary to respect a few rules of common sense. Researchers recommend that not exceed a ration of 80 to 100 grams and above all, not no add sauces which, they are very caloric.
So, to spare your sleep and keep your figure, prefer whole or semi-whole wheat pasta, plain, and to facilitate digestion, they must be cooked al dente… So to sleep well, pasta in the evening, yes, but not the calories!
