Spending entire days in an armchair can quickly become an ordeal for the body. Fortunately, it’s easy to combat harmful tension with a little stretching session. Here are some office stretches that you can do while seated.
Stretching at the office to relax and regain calm is certainly a good idea. the stretching allows you to stretch gently and relax. All these movements are real sources of well-being which loosen all your muscles and limbs when they have remained in one position all day.
Sitting in front of a computer every day can cause harm to your body, especially since you don’t necessarily have theideal ergonomic environment. If you stay in the same position for hours in an uncomfortable chair, it can cause pain, headaches, tension in the back, neck and shoulders.
Studies have shown that regular stretching exercises and stretching at the office can help reduce neck and shoulder pain. Likewise, regular breaks to stand up and stretch increase productivity at work.
These moving breaks give your eyes a chance to rest and your whole body to feel more at ease. As much physical as mental, this little stretching allows, in addition, torelease the stress. A real moment of relaxation…
These movements are available whatever your age or your flexibility. Personally they do me a lot of good after a day in front of my screen 🙂
For neck and shoulders
For your neck : Rotate your head in one direction and then in the other. You can also gently rock your head back and forth, then to the side as if you wanted to rest your head on your shoulder.
For your shoulders : Shrug your shoulders, keeping them suspended for three seconds, then release. Repeat three times. You can also slowly roll your shoulders forward five times and then back.
Finally, to ensure maximum relaxation, cross your fingers behind your neck and push your elbows back. Don’t hesitate to yawn!
Office stretches for the back
For your back : Raise your arms and cross your fingers, palms up, and stretch back. Hold for a few seconds, then lean to one side and then the other.
You can also grab your left elbow with your right hand and push it gently towards your right shoulder. Repeat with the other arm.
For your wrists and arms : extend your arms in front of you, palms down, and with your right hand, grab your left palm from below and bring it towards you. Keep your arms straight.
Repeat with the other hand. In the same starting position, this time grab the top of the hand, breaking your wrist down, this stretch will relieve the whole arm.
Muscles work when you sit!
For your legs : fold your leg over your chest, trying to touch your knee with your nose and keep this position for several seconds, then do the same with the other leg.
Hard to believe, but the body works more when you are sitting than standing, especially if you keep the same position for long periods of time.
Suitable for everyone, stretching in the office aims to soften and relax the parts of the body worked, which affects the quality of your work and your mood. Practice these small stretching sessions several times a day: guaranteed relaxation and well-being!
