THE’stroke is a failure of the blood circulation in a region (more or less large) of the brain. In the affected area, the cells are deprived of the oxygen supplied by the blood, and therefore may die if this lack lasts too long.
There are two types of stroke: in about 80% of cases, it is an ischemic stroke of the brain (also called a cerebral infarction) which occurs when a clot blocks blood flow. In a minority of cases (about 20%), it is a hemorrhagic stroke, caused by the rupture of a blood vessel inside the brain. A hematoma forms, it compresses the affected area of the brain, and interrupts blood circulation.
Work less to protect your health
According to a French study published this Thursday, June 20, 2019 in the specialized journal Stroke, people who work more than 10 hours a day, at least 50 days a year, would (on average) have a 29% higher risk of stroke. And for people who keep this rhythm (intense!) For 10 years or more, the risk of stroke increases by about 45%.
The correlation would be even stronger among people under the age of 50. In addition, no male / female difference was noted. According to researchers from the Raymond-Poincaré hospital, the universities of Versailles-Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines and Paris-Saclay with Inserm, 30% of French people work more than 10 hours a day. What if we lifted our foot (a little)?
