Tired of diets that don’t work? It seems that in terms of effectiveness, Weight Watchers is doing well. According to a study published in The Lancet, overweight and obese people who have followed the Weight Watchers method lose more weight than those who have been treated with a standard diet.
772 patients were chosen and referred by their doctor to follow Weight Watchers or to have standard weight loss treatment. The follow-up was done over a period of twelve months. In the end, the average weight loss was 7kg for people treated with Weight Watchers against 3kg in the case of standard monitoring. Weight loss was accompanied by a decrease in waist circumference, body fat and therefore the risk of type 2 diabetes.
Weight Watchers: lose weight for sure
Knowing that overweight and obesity in adults increase the risk of developing diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer, Weight Watchers would be an effective tool in the fight against obesity and the complications it causes. Partly thanks to more support from doctors within the framework of this regime. “It seems that the partnership between health professionals and Weight Watchers is very powerful and that it really works for patients,” said Karen Miller-Kovach, Scientific Director of Weight Watchers International.
