Twitter wants to ensure that you do not receive anything from accounts that you have blocked on the social medium. Not even when you use the Explore tab on the service.
The company is now working on an update that will prevent you from seeing content from accounts you blocked within that tab. You will also not see material of words and hashtags that you have on mute. This applies to the web version, but also to the official apps that you can download on Android and iOS. The content also does not appear in emails, notifications and trends.
Twitter is making change
Many users probably experience this change as a welcome addition. Users get more control over the content they see on the platform. Or rather: which they do not see, wherever they are at that moment within the app or on the website.
This is not only useful for avoiding specific people. Many people also complain about the fact that social media is full of spoilers from movies, series and games. If you do your best to keep certain words out of your timeline, but then see them elsewhere on the website and therefore read a spoiler – then you’re disappointed. If all goes well, this can now be prevented as soon as the update arrives.
