Launched by Public Health France in 2016, the Tobacco Free Month initiative aims to help to quit smoking. Between 2016 and 2019, the rate of attempts to quit smoking continued to increase, from 15.9% to 24.4% (out of 12,477 smokers). It is estimated that over this same period, the number of smokers fell by 1.9 million! How to register for the Tobacco Free Month?
Month without tobacco, how does it chew?
Tobacco Free Month is a challenge that starts november 1st and lasts all month, the objective is to offer smokers personalized support to achieve weaning. Succeeding in not smoking for 30 days amounts to a fivefold increase in the chances of quitting smoking for good. This is the most difficult time to face, where nervousness and irritability can be overwhelming.
To get there, it is better to be surrounded and followed by a health professional: it is estimated that this last aspect would increase the chances that it works by 70%. The program aims to facilitate access to this consultation for registrants. At the same time, the Wanted community on Facebook is teaming up with Tobacco Free Month, because the support of a group around quitting is very important. Moreover, Public Health France also wishes to unite around the fight against smoking on Twitter or Instagram.
Tobacco-free month: how to register and receive a kit?
On the tobacco-info-service site which will be one of the pillars of the challenge, you can register for free. You will have to specify certain information: first name, age, address … And will receive a program. You will be able to download Tobacco info service e-coaching application and find support videos, tips, comprehensive information on the benefits of quitting smoking.
Finally, a stop kit will be sent to you. This is divided into two parts: a first to use over 10 days, to prepare for weaning, and another part over the remaining 30 days, during which you will not smoke.
