Bike you fit
If you look at the Tour de France or the Vuelta a España it seems so easy: cycling. But it is certainly not that easy. It is difficult at the very beginning. It takes willpower, perseverance and eventually you might get up that Mont Ventoux. To help you on your way, here are a few tips to get off to a good start with cycling.
First of all, it is important to set yourself a realistic goal. Have you never cycled before or have you finally started again after years? It is logical that you cannot ride a mountain stage within a month.
Basic scheme
So don’t run too fast, but make a plan and draw up a schedule. Build it up gradually so that you avoid injuries and other discomforts. Are you not yet sure whether you want to continue cycling and are you therefore not purchasing an outfit yet? Do not save on good cycling shorts, because otherwise you will certainly not last long.
Company
Cycling alone can be nice and relaxing, but cycling together is motivating. You can alternate who is in the lead and you don’t give up so quickly if you know that someone is waiting for you.
Variety
Don’t do the same round every week, but alternate it. If you cycle the same part three times a week, you will soon get tired of it. This keeps it fun and you will also continue to drive more attentively.
Muscles
Take care of your body and muscles and don’t start too hard, but always start slowly and warm up your muscles by cycling at a very slow pace. When the muscles are warm, you can accelerate. Drink enough during exercise and immediately take a warm shower or bath at home to prevent muscle soreness.
Prevent dehydration
During a bike ride it is important to take fluid intake and nutrition into account. A body loses a lot of fluid during exercise. Especially in warmer weather. Do you not cycle for more than an hour? Then it is not necessary to eat anything. If you cycle longer, it is necessary to provide yourself with extra energy.
