“It is clear that we teach evidence-based medicine – we insist on absolute scientific rigor – and it is clear that at the same time homeopathy has not evolved, that it is a doctrine that has remained on the sidelines of the scientific movement, that studies are rare on homeopathy, that they are not very solid, to maintain our teaching would be to endorse it “, declared the dean of the faculty, Didier Gosset, to AFP. He explains that this is a position taken “within the framework of scientific and educational reflection”.
The HAS will have to decide on the effectiveness of homeopathy
In question ? A bitter debate on the merits of alternative medicine. Remember, last March, 124 doctors signed a forum in the “Vox” section of Figaro, in which they judged these medicines “fanciful”, “dangerous” and recalled their lack of scientific basis.
Homeopathic physicians responded with a complaint to the College of Physicians and the Union Collegiale, a minority union, qualified this forum “insulting and anti-confraternal”. The Order has invited doctors to conciliation meetings.
In this case, the Ministry of Health seized the High Authority of Health (HAS) which will be responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of homeopathy and the merits of its reimbursement. It should deliver its opinion at the end of February 2019. In parallel, the Order of Physicians has planned consultations at the local level.
