After raising the ceiling for complementary universal health coverage by 8.3% in July 2013, 204,000 new beneficiaries should be covered this year.
Almost a year after the increase in the access ceilings to CMU, the health cover which allows people with low incomes to seek free treatment, the results are eloquent: the number of new CMU beneficiaries should double. in 2014 compared to 2013, according to a joint press release from the Minister of Health and the Secretary of State responsible for the fight against exclusion.
The decision to raise the CMU ceilings was taken as part of the Poverty Reduction Plan of January 2013; the objective being to improve the coverage of health expenses for the poorest insured.
As of 2013, this measure had enabled 102,000 additional people to benefit from CMU and 64,000 from ACS financial assistance to pay for their own complementary health insurance. In 2014, 204,000 additional beneficiaries should be added for CMU-C and 180,000 for ACS.
