Good news for very small budgets: the eligibility ceilings for Complementary Universal Health Coverage (CMU-c) and Complementary Health Assistance (ACS) have been increased. Following the publication in the Official Journal of a decree on March 31, it is now necessary to earn less than 8,728 euros per year for a single person residing in Metropolitan France to benefit from the CMU-c. Previously, the ceiling was 8653.16 euros. The same rights are granted to foreign nationals in an irregular situation benefiting from State Medical Aid.
Ditto, for the ACS: under the same conditions, it will be accessible for incomes of up to 11,776 euros against 11,682 previously. These new limits came into effect on April 1, 2017.
Promote access to care
The CMU-c entitles you to free coverage of the additional part of health expenses. Under the general scheme, 70% of the social security tariff is covered by health insurance, and 30% is paid by the insured or his mutual insurance company. The CMU-c gives the right to a reimbursement by the State of 100% of the price of the services. This applies to medical consultations as well as to medicines and analyses. This assistance also entitles you to coverage packages for glasses, dental care and hearing aids. People who slightly exceed the CMU-C ceiling can benefit from ACS: for one year, financial assistance is granted to them to pay for their complementary health contract. Raising the ceilings will therefore allow more people to access care.
