Until the first round of the presidential election, L’argus details the proposals of the main candidates concerning the automotive sector. Yannick Jadot (EELV) for his part would like to see the development of new forms of mobility and the abolition of internal combustion engines as soon as possible.
On Monday March 14, the Mobilians, PFA, Fiev and CSIAM teams welcomed the candidates (or rather their respective representatives) to the Salle Gaveau in Paris. The party Europe Écologie les Verts had moved in the person of Karima Delli, MEP. The latter was able to detail a few points of Yannick Jadot’s program. Here’s what to remember.
Move differently
Karima Delli obviously spoke in favor of clean mobility. ” We must protect the planet, face the challenge of air pollution, the cause of more than 60,000 deaths per year in France.. To do this, the Greens want to invest in intermodality. For example, ” 7 billion euros would be released to modernize the train network”knowing that ” every French person lives less than 10 km from a train station”.
In addition, the bike is too little put forward for the environmentalist party. The latter supports the establishment of numerous greenways, particularly in metropolitan areas. A heresy “while we are the country of the Tour de France”, Madame Delli had exclaimed. Young people are also in the sights with a “Climate Pass for 16-25 year olds” giving unlimited access to cleaner means of transport (carpooling, bus, metro, train, etc.). However, no aid for the purchase of an electric vehicle was mentioned in the programme.
Stop the production of thermal cars
To support the automotive industry, Karima Delli assures that recovery plans would be ” better conditioned” while the problem of batteries should be improved by a ” better European coordination”. Except that in his speech, it is not a question of neutrality but of ” energy mix ». A tiny difference in language compared to the other candidates which nevertheless means a lot. In effect, EELV wishes to prohibit the sale of any thermal vehicle in 2030, also including micro-hybrids, simple or rechargeable hybrids. A frankly unachievable measure when we already observe the current setbacks of manufacturers.
Yannick Jadot also proposes a major national plan for retrofitting. “1 million vehicles will benefit from a transformation of internal combustion engines into electric motors. This system will concern private but also professional vehicles and community fleets., he replied in an interview. Advertising for large SUVs and sports cars would also be banned. You have understood, for the Greens, ” we have to get out of thermals and not wait until 2040”. Certainly, but it is still necessary that households have the means.
Financial aid
The left-wing candidate, however, does not let motorists down. In order to fight against the crazy prices of fuel, he wants to set up an “energy” check worth €400 for the poorest (6 million households). A measure that Emmanuel Macron has already used a few months ago. Employees would also benefit from a flat rate of €1,000 per year to travel, distributed by companies.
The other candidates:
- Emmanuel Macron
- Marine Le Pen
- Jean-Luc Melenchon
- Eric Zemmour
