According to figures from NGC-Data®, the French automotive market continues to be brooding, with a twelfth consecutive month in the red. In May 2022, only 126,819 new cars were registered, i.e. a decline of 10.1% compared to May 2021 (141,053 units) despite two additional working days. But it is above all a drop of 34.6% compared to May 2019 (193,949 units), the last reference year.
The Shortage of Semiconductors and the consequences of the war in Ukraine therefore continue to weigh on the supply chain and delivery times. Note, however, that the fall in registrations seems to be slowing down, since the -10.1% recorded in May appears to be the smallest drop since the start of 2022. Similarly, the monthly volume for May was the second higher behind March’s 147,098 units. However, it is too early to speak of a market recovery.

- February: 115,383 (–13%)
- March: 147,098 (–19.5%)
- April: 108,733 (–22.6%)
