After utility vehicles and city cars, the Stellantis group is cloning its smallest model: the Citroën Ami electric quadricycle. From this fall, it will be sold under the Opel badge. His name: Rocks-e. Initially, the model will only be marketed in Germany.
Pink notebook: the Citroën Ami has just had a twin sister. As with city cars, MPVs and utility vehicles, the synergies within the Stellantis group have enabled the German brand to clone the small French quadricycle, which thus becomes Opel Rocks-e. Enough to partially replace the Adam and Karl micro-city cars removed from the catalog. The name can also be seen as a direct nod to these two models, which existed in Rocks adventurer versions.
The German clone of the Friend
Like the Friend, the Opel Rocks-e is a license-free electric quadricycle 2.41 m long. It can be driven from the age of 15 in Germany, where it will be offered exclusively at first. The model is strictly identical to the Ami and has two seats. Its reverse opening doors and identical front and rear panels have been designed to reduce costs. The styling of the Opel is hardly different, notably with a contrasting light gray grille that evokes the new face of the brand (ViZor). Specific hubcaps and touches of yellow – Opel’s favorite color – are part of the differentiating features.
The 6 kW electric motor is taken over. It still offers a top speed of 45 km / h. The 5.5 kWh battery provides 75 km of range. As for recharging, it can be done at home using a conventional power outlet in 3 and a half hours.

Only in Germany to start
Initially, the Opel Rocks-e will be available for order only in Germany, online or in the Opel distribution network. Three levels of equipment will be offered: Rocks-e, Klub and TeKno. The first models will be delivered in the fall. The arrival in other markets is expected thereafter, from 2022. For the moment, Opel does not communicate on the arrival of the model in France against the Friend.
