A completely free prevention program
M’T dents is a public health program which in 2012 allowed one million oral examinations covered 100% by the Health Insurance. In 7 out of 10 cases, they concerned children and adolescents who had not received dental treatment the previous year.
For young children aged 6, (whose participation increases by 50%) this meeting is extremely important because childhood is one of the key periods in life in terms of dental risk prevention. It is also the ideal period to promote the acquisition of basic concepts and behaviors of health, such as good oral hygiene.
Excellent dynamics
This program had a leverage effect. Health Insurance observed at the end of December 2012, an increase in the overall use of the dental surgeon: 57.4% of children aged 6, 9, 12, 15 and 18 were followed by a dental surgeon during the year against 55.7% in 2011. The most significant increase concerns young people aged 18 with an increase of almost 4 points (57.8% against 53.9%).
New features to continue this mobilization
Children and young people in difficulty are the target of health insurance. Indeed, oral hygiene is one of the main markers of entry into precariousness and prevention is crucial to avoid major dental pathologies subsequently.
In 2012, more than 16,000 children in CP received personalized support as part of the M’T dents program. Actions in the field, in schools, with local health and social relays, the Health Insurance, wants to increase the participation rate in this program to eradicate dental problems in children in difficulty as soon as possible.
In addition, before the end of 2013, pregnant women will be able to benefit from an oral examination from the 4th month of pregnancy, covered at 100%, free of advance fees and until on the 12th day after childbirth.
