My partner got a new hip 4 years ago. He has been losing muscle strength for a year now. Before he gets out of a chair, he must first stand and move his leg slightly, then he can walk away. Control photos were taken eight weeks ago, the hip was orthopedic. But the neurologist showed that there was little strength in the left leg. My question is: have you experienced this before?

Frank van Oosterhout, orthopedic surgeon
The answer to the question is: yes, I have also experienced in our practice that a loss of strength occurred in the leg in question quite some time after the placement of a hip prosthesis. Even then the prosthesis turned out to be in place. Closer analysis by the neurologist revealed a neurological cause unrelated to the new hip.
Based on the data you e-mail, I advise your partner a further analysis by the neurologist.
