Listeria in pizzas: watch out for these references!

After the Buitoni scandal that resulted in the death of children and serious infections in others with E.coli bacteria, this is another brand of pizza and another bacterium –Listeria– which is the cause of a recall… According to the Drink reminder of the government, PPNP brand products, “Prepared by our pros” would be dangerous to consume.

There are several pizzas of this brand, the Hawaiian, the ham one, the ham and mushroom one. They have been sold between October 21 and 26 by Match supermarketsmainly in two regions: Great East and Hauts-de-France. Whatever happens, they should not be consumed, warns the government. Two options are available to those who have bought them, destroy them or bring them back to the store.

Very long incubation time

A bacterium called Listeria monocytogenes was found there. The latter is at the origin of a disease called listeriosis, which can go unnoticed in someone in good health and prove to be particularly dangerous for certain people with a weak immune system, in the elderly, very young children or even in pregnant women. Its particularity is that its incubation time can be very long: up to 8 weekss. If you have consumed it and you experience the following symptoms, it is essential to consult a doctor quickly.

As a reminder, Listeriosis is manifested by symptoms following:

• breathing problems, which may become irregular and noisy
• discomfort,
• an accelerated heartbeat,
• severe headaches,
• bluish lips and extremities (fingers, toes),
• Other symptoms, of a neurological type, can develop, with behavioral problems, photophobia (significant discomfort with light), stiff neck, etc.
• Fever, confusion, rashes should also alert.
