Already interesting so far, the non-rechargeable hybrid Kuga becomes completely unique on the market by offering itself a Flexifuel variant compatible with E85 bioethanol. What lower its costs of use and compensate for a price increase already lower than that of the thermal variants.
More and more popular with motorists, bioethanol E85 nevertheless remains very discreet in the ranges of manufacturers. Only one brand has really entered the breach: Ford. After the Fiesta, Puma or Focus, it is thus the turn of the Kuga to accomplish its conversion to this “green” and less expensive fuel. It is besides the older generation of this compact SUV which marked the start of this offensive in France, in 2019. With some success even though she was at the end of her career.
Only € 300 more for bioethanol
But this time it is the third version, still young, which serves as a basis. Better yet: the brand at the Oval has chosen its recent version 2.5 non-rechargeable hybrid FHEV 190 hp, with interesting sobriety. A way to compensate for the overconsumption of 20-25% naturally generated by ethanol. With a pump price of only 0.67 € / l on average in August 2021, the cost of use promises to be great. Without the price increasing disproportionately, since the increase is limited to € 300, making this variant accessible from € 37,300. The free or half-price gray card in most regions will be enough to compensate for this inflation, and it will still be possible to fill up with unleaded if you can’t find E85.
Ford has therefore decided to soon offer only this Flexifuel version in France on the Kuga hybrid. The only downside is that production will not begin until October 18 and is not offered with i-AWD all-wheel drive.

An increase of € 500 in gasoline and diesel
Another element could further strengthen the enthusiasm for this novelty. At the same time, the brand has indeed decided to increase the price of all its petrol or diesel variants by 500 €. Apart from the FHEV four-wheel-drive hybrid, only the rechargeable hybrid, much more expensive, therefore remains stable. It simply benefits from a new homologation, which allows it to display an electric range of 64 km on the WLTP cycle, instead of 56 km, and CO emissions.2 lowered to 22-29 g / km instead of 32 g / km. The Design Sport pack climbs for its part of 100 €, while smartphone charging by induction becomes an option at 150 € on the whole range. But, in this festival of increases, there is still a drop of 100 € for 19-inch Premium Luster Nickel alloy wheels.
