The presentation of the Fiat 500 X SUV model year 2022 is imminent. The official video is already visible on YouTube. So second restyling or not for the Italian urban SUV? Let’s see what changes in detail.
Launched in 2014, then restyled in 2018, the Fiat 500X SUV is not yet ready to assert its retirement rights. Its replacement is not planned until the summer of 2023 by a second generation which will owe a lot to Peugeot 2008, according to the logic of the Stellantis group. In the meantime, to occupy the land, the Italian brand has concocted a Fiat 500X model year 2022 which is already displayed without any camouflage on the Web. The official presentation video is even spinning on YouTube, while the SUV has yet to be revealed. Its presentation should take place by the end of January.
This time, no humor on the program, as at the time with a Viagra pill inadvertently slipped into the fuel tank of a Fiat 500 and which had the effect of unceremoniously transforming it into a Fiat 500X. No, it’s just a traditional presentation film. Logically, the changes made are quite small for this final straight.
Restyling? No, simple rebadgage
This spot allows us to clearly observe the modification that characterizes, not a second restyling, but rather a change of logo. Indeed, the Fiat 500X distances itself from the Fiat range and integrates the 500 family. This is evidenced by the staging of the grille which loses the Fiat emblem and the chrome bar in favor of a logo ” 500 ”inserted into the soft nose. It is a completely identical strategy and especially a graphics similar to that released by the electric Fiat 500 in March 2020.
A new micro-hybrid engine in the spring
The 500 emblem is omnipresent on the SUV. It remains embroidered on the top of the seats of the special RED series – still relevant in 2022 -, is still highlighted in the center of the rims and remains clearly visible on the chrome bar blocking the tailgate. The most visible innovation at the rear is the arrival of the classic Fiat lettering instead of the traditional logo. It’s rather minor, but this has the merit of harmonizing the 500 range, which is becoming more and more important (and profitable!) for the manufacturer. Under the hood, Fiat will launch a new 1.5 micro-hybrid (48 V) engine 130 hp and 160 hp, but not before spring 2022.
