Environmentally conscious food
According to the Wheel of Five, whoever eats does not only favor his body, but also the climate. Below are tips for eating healthier and more environmentally conscious.
What’s up?
Before you go shopping, take a critical look in your (refrigerator) cupboard. What really needs to be done now? And is it actually still good? See what you can still eat and look for a new recipe.
Drinking water
Eat less energy-rich extras, such as drinks, cookies, sweets and snacks. Drink water instead of sweet drinks. Everything you eat in excess of calories also costs a lot of energy and environmental impact to produce.
Vegetable of the season
Cooking according to the Disc has several advantages: you get all the nutrients you need, and you can make the tastiest meals from simple basic products such as potatoes and vegetables of the season. And those products also have a low environmental impact.
Good basic
If you make sure you eat a good base, you have less need for extras. And that’s a good thing, because those biscuits and pretzels are often quite harmful to the environment. They are processed, packed and transported. So eat something from the Disc in between, such as fruit or snack vegetables.
Don’t brag too much
You usually throw away food that has been on a plate, but everything that is left in the pan after eating can be eaten the next time. Therefore, try not to boast more than you are actually going to eat.
