We must render to Caesar what is Caesar’s. After Alejandro Mesonero in 2020, Miles Miles Nürnberger in 2021, it is David Durand’s turn to become, in 2022, the boss of the Dacia style. Just recognition for the French who worked until then in the shadow of the headliners.
Never have so many design directors succeeded each other, in such a short time, at the head of an automobile brand. First parenthesis with Alejandra Mesonero, came from Seat in July 2020 then quickly left for Alfa Romeo in May 2021. Second interlude with Miles Nürnberger from Aston Martin who will finally take the reins of the brand only from September 2021 to May 11, 2022.

The man of the shadows
Finally, what must be remembered from this is that everything comes at the right time to those who know how to wait, David Durand’s patience will finally have been rewarded. Indeed, if we look behind the whims of the stars, the one who has legitimately worked in the shadows for years is finally propelled to the front of the stage. This 49-year-old Frenchman, a graduate of the Strate College design school in Paris, is a man of the seraglio.
“David Durand began his career at Renault Group in 1997 as an exterior designer“
David Durand designed the Renault Koleos concept car in 1999 and Renault Ellipse in 2002. Then until 2009, he gained solid experience in the satellite design centers of Barcelona (Spain), Seoul (South Korea) and Sao Paulo (Brazil). In 2011, David Durand was appointed director of the Global Access design range, a universe in which the Dacia brand is fully immersed.
