Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault announced on Tuesday at the end of the major conference on poverty that the resource ceiling giving entitlement to complementary universal health coverage (CMU-C) would be revised. Thus, 500,000 more people will be able to benefit from it.
The current ceiling is 7,934 euros per year for a single person. 4.3 million people are beneficiaries. The CMU-C is an additional protection granted free of charge to the lowest incomes. It provides more comprehensive support than the basic CMU. In this case, the co-payment, the flat-rate contribution of 1 euro for medical procedures and the daily flat-rate during hospitalization are no longer the responsibility of the insured.
