By Raïssa Blankoff, naturopath. Interview with Jean-Patrick BONNARDEL, pharmacist, on his book “Colloidal silver, a natural alternative to antibiotics”, Dangles éditions, 2013.
Jean-Patrick Bonnardel, homeopathic pharmacist, has been a specialist in colloidal silver and other colloid forms for over 30 years. The antibacterial action of silver, known for centuries, is now regaining its nobility in the face of the problem of antibiotic resistance.
The antibacterial action of silver is already cited by Paracelsus at 15th century. Since 1880, many studies confirm its power and it was used widely, especially during the war of 14-18, before the discovery of antibiotics. These colloidal silver preparations then existed in pharmacies in various forms (cream, solutions, etc.). For example, and it is still the case today, at the birth of a baby, a drop of a dilution of silver nitrate is put in the eyes of the newborn to eradicate the bacteria linked to the childbirth, which saved and saved many children from blindness. Its use is therefore very well known and recognized, but the discovery of sulfonamides and then penicillin, much more powerful in combating diseases such as syphilis or tuberculosis, has made this trace element, which had nevertheless proved its worth, sink into oblivion. . Today, we are witnessing its rediscovery because of resistance to antibiotics.
The return to the use of colloidal silver is taking place today, in prevention and therapy. For example, in the United States, a hospital chose copper and silver to cover all the surfaces most affected (handles, handrails, etc.). A significant decrease in the burden of Staphylococcus aureus and, consequently, of nosocomial diseases has been observed. One of the reasons why colloidal silver is so active today in our bodies is that the poverty of our agricultural soils, in particular of the above-ground, deprives us of these trace elements which made the wealth. fruits and vegetables of yesteryear. These trace elements (silver, copper, chromium, selenium, etc.) act as coenzymes in our metabolism which, having become deficient, can no longer ensure its immune defense optimally.
You should know that silver acts by direct contact on bacteria. Bacteria put in the presence of silver are, in 24 hours, 10 times less numerous, and 100 times less numerous a few days later. This action allows a bacterial rebalancing in favor of saprophytic bacteria (our good bacteria). For example, in a gastroenteritis where the organism takes care by way of diarrhea to drive out “the intruder”, the money will come to put order, and to reverse the proportions of the bacterial load to allow the body to gain the upper hand. Its local use is therefore the most recommended.
