Every year, the Swiss Automobile Club (TCS) carries out child seat tests. The 2021 session includes 29 new features, the vast majority of which are highly recommendable. Only one model was eliminated due to a high level of pollutants in the tissues.

On the road to vacation, make sure everyone is properly seated, including the little ones. For this, you need a seat perfectly suited to their age and especially their size. To help you in your choice, the Swiss automobile club, the TCS, has tested 29 new products on the market. While most are perfectly recommendable, a model is clearly to be avoided.

The failures

During this session, the testers of the Swiss automobile club strongly advise against purchasing the iZi Go Modular X1 i-Size baby seat offered by Besafe, with or without the base which remains attached to the car chair. via the Isofix system. Its eliminatory defect: a high level of naphthalene in the tissues. A component found to be carcinogenic. The Chicco Kiros i-Size (+ base) was also failed because “during the frontal impact test, it detached from its Isofix base and flew forward through the cockpit.”

The vast majority of seats are recommendable

Apart from this model which fails to collect more than one star, all the seats tested are highly recommendable.

Attention, this same seat once placed on its base encountered locking problems during the tests carried out by the TCS: during a frontal impact, it can detach from said base. Chicco has decided to withdraw this product from the market in mid-April. The brand also provides free exchange of the product, which can nevertheless be used safely without the base.
