Remember: in a press release published on April 27, 2019, the Ministry of Solidarity and Health announced the recall of several cheeses contaminated with the Escherichia Coli bacteria. Between March and April 2019, 13 cases of “hemolytic uremic syndrome (kidney problems) due to Escherichia coli type O26 infection” occurred in young children aged 6 months to 4 years.
New twist in the history of contaminated cheeses: in a second press release this Thursday, May 2, 2019, the health authorities have decided to extend the list of references subject to a recall procedure: “the new traceability elements collected justify additional information for consumers on the presentation or name of the recalled cheeses”.
New cheeses are affected by the recall: read the labels!
In addition to Camembert, Reblochon, Saint-Marcellin and Saint-Félicien, the recall therefore also concerns “Saint-Félicien or Saint-Marcellin (…) marketed among other cheeses in platters” which “carry one of the following 4 approval numbers on their packaging: FR 35 068 004 CE, FR 59 343 030 CE, FR 63 113 081 CE, FR 84 007 011 CE “.
Ditto for cheeses marketed under the names “Romans de Romans”, “Tomme / Sac de Vigneron”, or “assortment of cow cheeses”, “all three bearing the approval number FR 26 281 001 CE” .
Finally, Saint-Félicien or Saint-Marcellins marketed by the Seillac brand with the approval number FR 26 281 001 CE are also concerned. It will therefore be necessary to read the labels carefully …
If in doubt, lhe Fromagerie Alpine (located in Drôme) has set up a telephone number: 04 75 70 01 01.
