Listeria is a bacterium which can contaminate the digestive system of certain animals. The problem is that if infected meat is ingested by a human, it can cause listeriosis, a disease with an incubation period of up to 8 weeks. Listeria can cause neurological complications such as meningitis.
Several batches of cordon bleu have just been the subject of a reminder because of Listeria. They were marketed by U brands throughout France before the recall procedure was announced.
If you have purchased one of the contaminated cordon bleus, do not consume it. Return it to the store for a refund.
Foods contaminated with Listeria retain the same appearance, taste and smell as normal. It is therefore impossible to recognize an infected product. The foods concerned may be fruits, vegetables, dairy products, cheeses, meats, cold meats, smoked fish, raw shellfish, etc.
Reminder: what is the reference of the products concerned?

Listeria: see if you experience these symptoms
“ People who have consumed the products mentioned and who present with fever, isolated or accompanied by headaches, and body aches, are invited to consult their doctor and report this consumption. », warns the government.
Serious forms with neurological complications and maternal or fetal damage in pregnant women can sometimes occur. Pregnant women as well as immunocompromised people and the elderly should be particularly attentive to these symptoms.
Listeria can also be fatal in elderly or fragile people (suffering from cancer, on dialysis or transplant recipients). In fact, the mortality rate reaches 30 or 40% for cases of listeriosis.
