This is what the restyled BMW X7 could look like. The large German SUV will benefit from a new arrangement of front lights, on two levels in order to get in tune with the new 7 Series marketed in 2022.
It was the first X7 of the name, on the market since the end of 2018, that started the trend for oversized grilles at BMW. Could its restyled version launch another, that of the two-stage front optical units? Several manufacturers have already adopted this concept, from Citroën to Skoda via Hyundai, and “stolen” photos of still heavily camouflaged prototypes suggest that the Bavarian brand could follow suit with the X7 “phase 2”. Note that the large German SUV will no longer be the flagship of the range since the manufacturer will launch in 2022, the XM.
The X7 sees double
The restyled BMW X7 could sport just under its hood blocks dedicated to LED daytime running lights, very thin and horizontal, somewhat reminiscent of the “look” of the iX electric SUV. But below would be, therefore separated, other windows grouping the main lighting functions such as low beams and high beams. The shield would be redesigned accordingly. The novelties should be much less noticeable at the rear, where a new light signature and a slightly revised shield are to be expected. In the cabin, we could find the multimedia system iDrive 8 and its large curved screen as in the iX.
A new distinction in the range?
This new headlight design, BMW could make it the hallmark of its most upscale models in the future. Thus the next Series 7 will inaugurate these two-stage headlights in the summer of 2022, when it will enter production in the same way as the 100% electric version, i7.
