Porsche dusts off the 911 GT2 RS one more time for a very special version
The 24 Hours of Nürburgring was previously the 10 Hours of Nürburgring this year due to severe weather, but that does not detract from Manthey Racing’s performance. Manthey’s 911 GT3 R nicknamed ‘Grello’ saw Porsche win the race for the thirteenth time in the history of the race. Add to that the anniversary of Manthey Racing – they are turning 25 – and you have reason enough for a special model. For the occasion, they are once again dusting off the GT2 RS of the previous generation 911.
Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 is a heavily converted Porsche 911 GT2 RS of the 991 generation. The special model is a combination of the GT3 R that won the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring and the modern Porsche 935. They build thirty copies (no, not 25) that are not allowed on public roads; it is there for the ambitious track drivers. The new Porsche was developed by Porsche Motorsport and Manthey Racing together – so it is an official Porsche product.
What’s different?
The front bumper has been redesigned for more downforce and better airflow to the engine. The radiator is better protected in the event of a collision. The bottom of the Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 is flat, which also helps for aerodynamics. The two holes in the front flap direct air to the rear wing. The rear also received a thorough facelift for better cooling and downforce.
How much does the Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport 25 cost?
The chassis comes from the modern Porsche 935, including the 18-inch wheels. The steering and electronics also come from the special model. The engine is identical to that of the GT2 RS. Great, because the 3.8-liter biturbo six-cylinder with 700 hp has never failed anyone. The price of the track toy is EUR 525,000 excluding taxes. BPM does not apply because the car is not allowed to have a registration number. The thirty copies will be delivered early next year.
