The Porsche PDS50 is like a Porsche under the speakers; fully equipped but also a bit on the pricey side!
Porsche enthusiasts can hardly put a brand new sports car in their living room. To bring a bit of the German gründlichkeit into your home, Porsche Design released its own wireless speaker, the PDS50.
Porsche PDS50
The PDS50 is a luxury speaker for car enthusiasts. The whole is milled from a whole piece of aluminum and resembles a grill of a sports car. According to Porsche Design the box is a ‘masculine design statement’ and of course a solid speaker in terms of sound quality.
The speaker is fully equipped. For example, users can connect their smartphone wirelessly via Bluetooth. In terms of power, the base station of the PDS50 is a large wireless charging pad that continuously supplies the speaker with wireless power. Alternatively, there is a USB-C connection for charging the battery.
In their own words, the speaker lasts roughly 20 hours on one battery charge. That is not surprising for a box of this size (197mm x 123mm x 123mm). Oh, and the speaker has an IPX4 rating, which means that the box can also be used outdoors and can withstand a drop of water.
With a price tag of €399, the Porsche PDS50 is of course quite pricey, especially because it does not contain any smart features or other gadgets. Of course you also secretly pay a bit for the luxury brand appearance. That’s something Porsche fanatics are used to anyway!
