Are fruit pies high in calories?
With around 300 calories for a slice of apple pie, this dessert is not likely to weigh very heavily on your scale. Here are some tips to apply in order to combine pleasure, greed and lightness.
- Prefer shortcrust pastry to make your spring desserts. It remains lighter, less greasy and more resistant to cooking than puff pastry. It will crumble less.
- However, if you buy your shortcrust pastry in stores, make sure that the product selected includes the mention “pure butter” on its packaging. This will ensure that you do not consume vegetable fats, such as palm oil-based margarines or mixtures of rapeseed and palm oil. Also check the composition: some industrial shortcrust pastry contains more than 10% sugar and many additives such as emulsifiers or acidity correctors.

What fruits to cook in spring?
To each fruit its period! Those that find their maturity in the sun develop incomparable flavors. Lemon, strawberry, grapefruit, apple or even rhubarb remain essential from the month of March.
The more they come from a distant country, the more the harvest is carried out too early: the taste will not be there. Those in season meet our nutritional needs, when our body needs them. In winter, for example, the body requires more nutrients to strengthen its immune system. In summer, our body demands more water with the heat: seasonal fruits such as melon or tomato remain full of it.
